Darrington's Story

IMG_0512.jpg

Darrington Lovelace was a very friendly and caring young man who loved his
family and friends. He was quite a striking young fellow who possessed a giant
heart and a smile to go along with it. Darrington considered no one a stranger as
his outgoing personality allowed him to befriend people easily. He was quite the
jokester. He enjoyed laughter and enjoyed making other people laugh as well.
Darrington was very proficient in both the classroom and in the arts. His hobbies
included singing, dancing, acting, shopping, watching movies, listening to music,
and spending quality time with his family and friends.

Darrington was a very good student at all levels of academia but, he especially
excelled at the high school and college levels. At Henry Ford College he not only
made the Dean’s List but was inducted into the college’s Phi Theta Kappa Honor
Society. His long-term goal was to become a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) and
later follow that by obtaining a Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy or a Medical
Degree. He was a very focused and ambitious young man, who knew what he
wanted and worked very hard to achieve it.

Darrington had been admitted into the PTA Program at Henry Ford College
Dearborn, MI and was well on his way when he was diagnosed with colon cancer.
While battling cancer, he would frequently reminisce about his classes,
classmates, and his goals. He often wondered if he would be able to resume
participation with them. Even in the last year of his life, Darrington wanted
nothing more than to be able to sit in a classroom again and be a regular student
just once more. But that never happened as he was too ill to do so. Darrington
passed away in 2015 at the age of 27 years young due to complications related to
colon cancer. Although he is absent physically, he is forever present in the hearts
and minds of those who love him.
